Time to Catch Up!
It has really been a while since my last post. Things have been crazy busy! But now things seem to be slowing down so hopefully my blog will stay current.

Sick :(
Nothing like a sick child. G has been sick since Tuesday. School was out on Monday, on Tuesday morning when I woke him up he didn't want to get out of bed so the fight started. After coming down stairs he was crying and whining that he felt bad. I said, sorry you are going to school so quit crying. After a few more minutes passed and he wasn't eating his breakfast I noticed his eyes were red and so were his lips....I looked for a thermometer, found several but the batteries were dead, so I called my best friend and she came to the rescue. Yes, his fever was over 101, so I felt like the really bad mom, no Mother of The Year awards here. Needless to say, we were in the Dr's office, he is on meds, and is still running fever. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I had rather be sick than see him sick.

Special Olympics 2008
This year's event was good. We had a total of 23 trucks in the convoy. Last year there were 50, but with the economy & fuel what it is I think we did very good. Our good friends who own the company that Hey Baby works with on his days off from his other job, were able to carry two athletes in their truck which was great. The boys had a wonderful time.
If you get the opportunity to support Special Olympics, PLEASE DO!
Friday night there was a softball game between drivers and athletes, the athletes kicked the drivers butts!!!
Saturday morning before the convoy started there was the opportunity to bid for the first & last place in the convoy. This raises extra $$$ for athletes. Boss Man won that bid and since he had two trucks, ours was first & he was second. We had lots of KY police & sheriff help. The on ramps were stopped as we passed, making some smile while others looked quite upset. We were told as we were leaving the parking lot this would be the only time we would not have to stop when we saw blue lights!:)
Also, a BIG thanks to the Southeast Christian Church http://www.southeastchristian.org/ for allowing us the use of their facilities.

Sick Day
Yesterday morning didn't start right. First I over slept which meant G over slept. Right as I was going up the stairs to wake him the bus stopped and blew. G started screaming & running in circles saying I have missed the bus, I have missed the bus. At the same time I was trying to calm him down but not having much luck. Once he got his bearings, had breakfast, then he begin to think clearly. That was when I noticed he just wasn't himself. Sooooo, by 10:30 we were at the Dr's office. He has the usual change of the weather crud that warranted an antibiotic. He is back at school today :) No worse for the wear!
Sick Days are expensive at this house. Not just the visit to the Dr., or the pharmacy(yeah! glad Hey Baby works for a major one!)but it's after you get those paid for that the real expense starts. You see, we have to eat.....at the Fat Rats House(aka Chuck E Cheese) and since it is at the mall you have to walk thru the mall and you have to buy a pair of jeans just so your "sick" son can have a certain belt, that ONLY comes with the jeans!! Yes, I am the BAD MOTHER who takes her sick child to the rats house. If he aint sick when we go most likely he will pick something up while we are there. Technically, he wasn't contagious, he HAD NO FEVER! It was good Mom & G time :)

Last Day of Homecoming

Well yesterday was the last day of Homecoming, the theme for the day was Orange/Black. Lets just say our football game did not turn out as we would have liked but the dance was a huge success. G had a great time although he didn't want to get out of the bed this morning. As I am writhing this blog I am listening to Rascal Flatts, My Wish, how very appropriate at this time.

Homecoming Week
Special Olympics
Time goes too quickly. It doesn't seem like it has been a year since we did this : http://www.soky.org/specialevents/truckconvoy.htm

Now it is time again. We are going this weekend. Number #1 son will be staying at home and G will be staying with his second family. I am looking forward to some away time. These are pics from last year's convoy. It is unbelievable once you get on the road. Your heart is touched in so many ways during this brief time.

Back to Normal ???
Well, looks like things might be getting back to normal(if there is such a thing). The Celebration
(www.twhnc.com) is over. You see, here in Middle TN there is a little county that host a BIG ten day horse show, the grandaddy of all horse shows and we don't go to school during that time. We start about a week before then we are out until after labor Day. Personally I would rather just start after Labor Day but they didn't ask me and they have been doing it this way since Moses was a baby. Number one son started back to college last night. He will be going to class 2 nights a week hoping to secure enough knowledge to pass the state board EMT test. We hope he succeeds :)

Missing G
This is where G is until Friday (yes I realize that would be tomorrow). I really miss him :(
I know he is having a good time despite the fact he hasn't bothered to call me(I did get a text). He is with his second family so I know he is in great hands and I don't worry (too much). What a great way to end summer vacation! Check it out!!

The Birthday Boy

Twelve years ago today this wonderful creature became a part of our family. We have NEVER been the same since. We didn't take any pics today(hence the date on the picture) because he has a strange eye infection, NO IT IS NOT PINK EYE, we're just not sure what it is. The doc gave us some drops and if they don't help he will give him an antibiotic. So much for a fun birthday :( he got to check out of school early, they were more than ready to get rid of him.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY G!

Long Time No Blog
Well, it's been a few days since my last post (ha) We took our trip to Florida to play baseball and we didn't win there either but we had a good time so that's all that counts. After returning home my mom was scheduled for surgery on the 7th of July(we came home on the 6th). Her surgery was successful and after three days we came home(to her house) then the nightmare began!!!! She had a horrible reaction to the pain medication and was completely out of her mind.
When I called the doctor I got one of his PA's who tried to tell me my mother was suffering form dementia. Wrong answer buddy, try again. So, he then tried to tell me that they are limited with the meds they can give the "elderly"(she is not you typical 72 yr old, therefore elderly not) for pain, so I then told him if you are limited then that means THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE!!! GIVE ME SOMETHING ELSE!! He did, it didn't work so we just adjusted the dose on the first until she was back to herself again.
The first two weeks were very hard. Then they got worse. My mother's baby sister lives with her. She got up in the middle of the night, felt sick, passed out , fell in the floor hitting her head on my son's playstation he had taken so he would have something to do while "living at Nannies". He hears her and comes running to find me, I thought he had turned the recliner over when I heard the noise only to find out it was her. She managed to clear a path, she not only took out the playstation she also got a rocking chair too.....her head did. She couldn't get up without passing out, so what to do....CALL 911. She spent over a week in the hospital and we still don't have a definite on what caused all this!!
I'm happy to say they are both home and doing better. We stayed at my mothers almost five weeks. I'm sorry to say we missed the world's best nephew's wedding and I really felt bad since we were able to attend the world's best niece's' weddings.
School has started and now that they have been going almost 2 weeks they are going to be out for the Celebration (www.twhnc.com) I wish we would just start after Labor Day.
G will have a birthday Thursday.....school pics will be the same day :)

Lost Again
Just let me say baseball has NOT been good this year. We have lost again, this makes approx 16 games if my math is correct(it's probably more but I hate to say 20). Maybe they are saving all their wins for the FL trip. One could only hope. Our first game last night we lost 9-4, but our second was horrible, final score was 16-1.....we played the same team twice and they were just coming back from a tournament in Knoxville where they took second place. Their coach said they did not get home until almost midnight the night before. You would have thought they would have been wore out! Guess not because they wore us out. G was brought in to pitch with two outs on the board. He did his job, they didn't score again and after he got the last out they called the game. Thank Goodness!! I hate it when he pitches, make me sick at my stomach. He loves it though and that's all that matters.

Garage Sale
My mother loves garage sales. She can't go because at this point she is having lots of trouble walking, which surgery will correct but that will be another post. Back to the garage sale. We had one last week, three days of it, Thur, Fri, & Sat. Wish I had remembered to take pics. We had junk for days and we sold junk for days. I was determined NONE of it was coming back home with me so while reading the evening paper I noticed an ad that read, Will pick up unsold yard sale items for FREE. There was the magic word FREE. I called and he was there within 15 minutes. We loaded him up. I finally got rid of a wedding gown that had seen two divorces. It was mine the first time I was married and then my best friend from high school, well her daughter wore it also. I was glad to see that go. Hope the next person has better luck. Just to set the record straight, my husband now is WONDERFUL. We have been married almost 14 years. Ok, enough of that we were talking about garage sales. Thur was good, it rained some on Fri, and Rained ALOT on Sat but that didn't seem to slow the yard sale warriors down. I got plenty of exercise running around trying to get things covered up, then running around again uncovering them. We had a good time, my mother's baby sister was there too so it was lots of laughs. Mother wants to have another one in the fall. Maybe after a few months recovery I will consider doing it again :)

Ever had this happen???
You send your child to baseball camp with one pair of cleats and he comes home with a different one??? Well, it has happened at this house. Thur was the last day of camp. The coaches were letting them have some fun time, water on a tarp time. ANYWAY....they all took their shoes off to slide on this thing, see where I am going with this? When I got there to pick G up, he asked if I had his cleats, my reply was NO, why would I. Everyone was leaving and he was frantically searching for his shoes. I spot a pair next to the fence, they look just like his, so I go over and pick them up all the time yelling at him, HERE THEY ARE!!!! But they weren't, they were just like his ONLY too SMALL!!!
So now we a faced with another problem, that being he has a double header to play in about 5 hrs....with no cleats. I call all our friends begging for cleats, that darn size issue keeps creeping up. His dad calls while all this is going on and SAVES the day! He leaves work goes to the store and comes home with a new pair. Looks like G was also the winner in this mix up, he got new shoes too! :)

Baseball at this house

Well, it has been a few days since posting. Our baseball season has finally taken off, we are playing at least 4 games a week plus weekends. Our weekday games are double headers, and for the most part they are all an hours drive away. I'm not complaining yet.....it would be better if we were winning, which we are not. The coaches tell us this is our "building" year and we have some good 10/11 year olds that make up this team. The Florida trip will be fun, looks like we will get alot of beach time.
Today will be a busy day, G is at baseball camp now and we have to go into town when he is finished and then be back so he can go to practice this afternoon. Tomorrow will be the same, only as soon as camp ends he has to have a haircut, then we are off to Thursday's double header. Busy, Busy , Busy......

It happened again!!!!!
Yes, it has happened again! That thing called a birthday. There is no way to escape them, and we are all going to receive one every year! After a while we just stop counting and hope everyone else does too.

Graduation
Yes, the fifth grade graduated this morning. I cried, and I have cried off and on since coming home. It's hard to see them grow up, because that means I am growing older, graduating to the next step in my life.

A Mother's Tears
Are we ever really able to let go? After today, I truly have my doubts, about myself that is. Our fifth grade classes at school are practicing for their"graduation" that will take place this week. I was subbing today and got to participate. It was really more than I could take. I was crying like a baby, because, they are singing the Billy Ray/Miley Cyrus song, Get ready, Don't Go.......
I know this is a milestone all must past, our first son did it, and I don't remember it being quite this hard. Maybe it is because this is our BABY.
I wasn't the only mother crying, another mother/school employee was crying also as she watched.
I am very proud of all these children that will be "graduating". In a way, I feel like they are all my babies....
Baby get ready, Please don't go......

Saturdays
Long gone are the lazy Saturdays. Baseball practice was happening on Tue & Thur which was great, but somehow Saturdays are now involved. Don't get me wrong, if we are PLAYING on Sat then that is ok, but there is just something about having to get up early and drive G to practice....you guessed it...on a SATURDAY morning. Since he is only 11 somebody has to do his driving although he thinks he can drive himself.
I miss the sleeping late and just bummin around, but I can't complain too much.
My complaint today was our coaches, yes both of them were LATE for practice. If one of our players is late then they must run, and run, and run, and well you get the picture.
I called Coach #2, told him there were 4 mothers there that wanted to see then running poles after practice. We knew we were out of our minds for even thinking "Coaches would run"!!!
Practice lasted about 3 hours so I got some exercise in during that time.
Oh well, enough complaining for today. Nobody listens :)
