This year's event was good. We had a total of 23 trucks in the convoy. Last year there were 50, but with the economy & fuel what it is I think we did very good. Our good friends who own the company that Hey Baby works with on his days off from his other job, were able to carry two athletes in their truck which was great. The boys had a wonderful time.
If you get the opportunity to support Special Olympics, PLEASE DO!
Friday night there was a softball game between drivers and athletes, the athletes kicked the drivers butts!!!
Saturday morning before the convoy started there was the opportunity to bid for the first & last place in the convoy. This raises extra $$$ for athletes. Boss Man won that bid and since he had two trucks, ours was first & he was second. We had lots of KY police & sheriff help. The on ramps were stopped as we passed, making some smile while others looked quite upset. We were told as we were leaving the parking lot this would be the only time we would not have to stop when we saw blue lights!:)
Also, a BIG thanks to the Southeast Christian Church http://www.southeastchristian.org/ for allowing us the use of their facilities.

Sick Day
Yesterday morning didn't start right. First I over slept which meant G over slept. Right as I was going up the stairs to wake him the bus stopped and blew. G started screaming & running in circles saying I have missed the bus, I have missed the bus. At the same time I was trying to calm him down but not having much luck. Once he got his bearings, had breakfast, then he begin to think clearly. That was when I noticed he just wasn't himself. Sooooo, by 10:30 we were at the Dr's office. He has the usual change of the weather crud that warranted an antibiotic. He is back at school today :) No worse for the wear!
Sick Days are expensive at this house. Not just the visit to the Dr., or the pharmacy(yeah! glad Hey Baby works for a major one!)but it's after you get those paid for that the real expense starts. You see, we have to eat.....at the Fat Rats House(aka Chuck E Cheese) and since it is at the mall you have to walk thru the mall and you have to buy a pair of jeans just so your "sick" son can have a certain belt, that ONLY comes with the jeans!! Yes, I am the BAD MOTHER who takes her sick child to the rats house. If he aint sick when we go most likely he will pick something up while we are there. Technically, he wasn't contagious, he HAD NO FEVER! It was good Mom & G time :)

Last Day of Homecoming

Well yesterday was the last day of Homecoming, the theme for the day was Orange/Black. Lets just say our football game did not turn out as we would have liked but the dance was a huge success. G had a great time although he didn't want to get out of the bed this morning. As I am writhing this blog I am listening to Rascal Flatts, My Wish, how very appropriate at this time.

Homecoming Week
Special Olympics
Time goes too quickly. It doesn't seem like it has been a year since we did this : http://www.soky.org/specialevents/truckconvoy.htm

Now it is time again. We are going this weekend. Number #1 son will be staying at home and G will be staying with his second family. I am looking forward to some away time. These are pics from last year's convoy. It is unbelievable once you get on the road. Your heart is touched in so many ways during this brief time.

Back to Normal ???
Well, looks like things might be getting back to normal(if there is such a thing). The Celebration
(www.twhnc.com) is over. You see, here in Middle TN there is a little county that host a BIG ten day horse show, the grandaddy of all horse shows and we don't go to school during that time. We start about a week before then we are out until after labor Day. Personally I would rather just start after Labor Day but they didn't ask me and they have been doing it this way since Moses was a baby. Number one son started back to college last night. He will be going to class 2 nights a week hoping to secure enough knowledge to pass the state board EMT test. We hope he succeeds :)
